Progress Energy

I am not sure how they will make money off of this - but I assume they will raise your power costs if you install Solar.  Is $2 per watt a good rebate if they increase your overall bill by 20%?

Renewable Energy Programs:
• SunSenseSM Residential and Commercial Solar PV Programs – Provide residential and commercial customers rebates of up to $2 per watt of customer-installed solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

o Install 100 kW solar PV systems on four post-secondary schools.
• SunSenseSM Solar Water Heating – Introduce a pilot program assisting low-income families with energy costs by working with non-profit builders to incorporate a free solar thermal water heating system into qualifying customers’ homes during the construction phase.

I am curious to know why we have to pay more if we are reducing our power consumption?

Progress Energy wants to charge more, meet energy conservation goals
